Sugarwise:

A Type-2 Diabetes Health Keeper

OVERVIEW

Sugarwise focused on awareness, customization, and accessibility. The primary objective is to increase awareness and foster the habit of regular blood sugar testing among users. This is achieved through timely notifications and reminders that not only prompt users to test blood sugar regularly but also encourage the habit of recording and tracking it. This approach is designed to form a habit, making regular monitoring a part of the user's daily routine rather than a burdensome task.

PROCESS OVERVIEW

01
RESEARCH

• User Pain Point •

• Target Population •

• Type 2 diabetes, also known as adult-onset diabetes, unlike type 1 diabetes,  is characterized by insulin resistance and inadequate insulin production by the pancreas.

• In some cases, type 2 diabetes may develop slowly, and the initial symptoms may be mild or absent. This can make it easy for individuals to overlook or dismiss these symptoms as unrelated issues, especially if they don't feel significantly unwell.
• The target population includes those who may be at risk of developing type 2 diabetes or have already received a diagnosis. Within this group, individuals who are more likely to benefit from targeted interventions are those who have limited awareness or understanding of the condition and its potential consequences.

• Additionally, the target population may encompass those who have experienced mild or asymptomatic initial symptoms, which could lead to delayed recognition and response. Furthermore, individuals who may struggle with denial and acceptance of their diabetes diagnosis, and consequently, may not be adequately engaged in self-care practices, are part of this important target audience.

SYNTHESIZE

• Key Features & Wireframe•

To ensure consistent blood sugar monitoring, we have incorporated a check-in and tracking system. This feature is designed to help users regularly record their blood sugar levels and track blood sugar trends.

Medication management is a vital component of diabetes care as well. Our application simplifies this process by offering a convenient way to manage daily medications.
Another key feature of the app is to  address the critical need for dietary adjustments by helping transition to a low-sugar diet. We provide recommendations for low-sugar or sugar-free substitutes, ensuring the transition is not only health-focused but also comfortable and adaptable to individual preferences.

Users receive timely reminders on their mobile phones and smartwatches, synchronized with their medication schedules. This feature aims to enhance medication adherence, which is an essential factor in effective diabetes management.

TESTING & FINALIZE

• Usability Testing •

During the UX design process, we encountered several challenges . One of the primary issues was balancing the complexity of medical information with the need for a simple user interface. Users needed to understand their health data without feeling overwhelmed. Additionally, we wanted to ensure accessibility for all users, including those with visual or motor impairments, which meant rigorous testing and iteration of design elements like color contrasts and button sizes.

• High-Fi Prototype •

•Design Philosophy & Value•

Our design philosophy is rooted in the belief that technology should adapt to people, not the other way around. We are committed to creating a user experience that feels intuitive, accessible, and personal. From the onset, we focused on understanding the day-to-day realities of our users, ensuring that every aspect of the app—from the interface to the personalized features—enhances their ability to manage their health effectively. We strive for a design that empowers users, giving them the tools to take control of their health outcomes.
